Megastar Chiranjeevi – The man who introduced cinema to me,i grew up watching his movies though im just a 20 year old millenial and i haven’t born yet when this man was ruling Tollywood but i went through those days where we used stick on to the TV when his movies/songs used to telecast and i eventually addicted to his Acting,his dancing skills,his comedy timing,his Swag&Style,it was such a delight to watch him onscreen thus he became a part of my childhood.
Exactly 42 years back today Chiranjeevi’s Pranam karidhu hit the screens cited as his first movie but he made his acting debut with Punadhi rallu which was released in the following year and he went through a lot and used to do small roles and also side characters in the movies of his peers Kamal hassan and Rajnikanth
But he kept on working hard and had his first break through with his Negative role in Punnami nagu and later he did few negative roles and it was 1982 he got his first notable hit as a lead actor with Intlo ramayya veedhilo krishnayya and in the same year for Subhaleka he went on to win his first filmfare award in the best actor category.With Abhilasha and few other successful films he became a minimum guarantee hero.
Then with the Industry hit Khaidi(1983) he became an overnight star and from then he never had to look back and masses started hailing him as Supreme hero and later with Vijetha he won his second filmfare award
Though he gained unbeatable stardom and became Megastar of tollywood with movies like Pasivadi pranam,Yamudiki mogudu,Atthaki yamudu ammayiki mogudu admist of these films he used to satisfy his within actor with arthouse films like Aradhana, Rudraveena,Swayamkrushi(Also won Nandi award for this one) where he teamed up with great directors like Balachander,Bharathiraja and K.Viswanath and aslo he showcased his extraordinary comedy timing with Jandhyala’s Chantabbai.
In 1988 he was one of the indian delegeates at the 59th Academy Awards and he was the first south indian actor to be invited to that ceremony. His films like Swayamkrushi and Pasivadipranam. were dubbed into russian and screeened in Moscow international film festival
And in 1990 he made his bollywood debut with Prathibandh and in later years with Films like The Gentleman(1994),Aaj ka gundaraj(1992) he was recognized nationwide
With Back to back blockbusters like Kodama simham,Jagadeka veerudu athiloka sundari,Gangleader and Gharana mogudu no other hero even came near to him in terms of stardom
Gharanamogudu(1992) became first telugu film to gross more than 10cr at boxoffice with this stupendous boxoffice success Chiranjeevi became first indian actor i repeat first indian actor to take the Remunration of more than 1cr INR
He was paid Rs 1.25 crore for Aapad Bandhavudu in 1992, making him the highest paid actor, overtaking Amitabh Bachchan who then used to get Rs 1 crore for a movie. It made him catapult onto the cover pages of Nation magazines Like Filmfare and India today Quoted him “Bigger than Bacchan” and News magazine The week hailed him as New money machine
In a film career spanning Forty-two years, he won four state Nandi awards including the Raghupathi venkaiah award, and ten Filmfare awards south including the Filmfare Lifetime Acheivement Award-South.
In 2006 he was honoured with the Padmabhushan,india’s third highest civilian award for his contributions to indian cinema.He represented Incredible India at the 14th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony held in Macau.
In 2013, IBN LIVE named him as one of “the men who changed the face of the Indian Cinema”.
After he left cinema to join politics and faced many ups and downs so then he realised that he is not fit for politics.
And in 2017 he returned to cinema with his 150th film Khaidi no.150 and proved he is still the same megastar he used to be a decade back and now he is again coming to conquer the indian Boxoffice with Syeraa Narasimha reddy
